LONG BEACH, Calif.; June 8, 2010 –The Queen Mary will host “BBQ, Brews and Red, White and Blues,” a two-day Independence Day celebration for Fourth of July weekend. This event is a down-home Fourth of July celebration with favorite BBQ styles such as Carolina, Texas, Kansas City and St. Louis in an old-fashioned cookout atmosphere complete with live music and a variety of other entertainment. The celebration takes place Saturday, July 3 and Sunday, July 4 from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. each day. The build-your-own strawberry shortcake station is sure to be a favorite among those with a sweet tooth while kids’ activities such as a bounce house, face painters and other strolling entertainers will provide fun for all members of the family.
A spectacular fireworks show is planned for Sunday night at 9 p.m., and firework viewing areas, added bar locations and dancing under the stars with a live DJ will be set up on the ship’s stern from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m.
The main event will take place outside in the ship’s Sea Walk area adjacent to the ship. The ship will also be open to guests who want to explore on board. Admission price is $24.95 for adults and $12.95 for children (5-11) while military and senior admission is $21.95. A hotel and ticket package is offered starting at $199 for two people. Admission does not include any of the guided tours offered on the ship, but tours can be purchased a la carte. Parking is $15 per car.
