New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation (OPRHP), in partnership with Delaware North Companies, has announced the conversion of four new spa treatment rooms for guests of the Roosevelt Baths and Spa at Gideon Putnam Resort in Saratoga Spa State Park. OPRHP has converted two of the four treatment rooms to include 100 percent pure mineral bathwater. The new changes will allow spa customers to choose the heating method used to prepare their fresh spring water baths. Two rooms were completed and opened May 30. The remaining two rooms will be completed in time for the Independence Day weekend. The cost of the project is $100,000.

Michael L. Coats has logged more than 5,000 hours flying time in 28 different aircraft, and more than 400 carrier landings. He flew his first space shuttle flight as pilot of the maiden flight of Discovery. After overcoming the first pad abort of the shuttle program, Coats and his STS-41D crewmates deployed a prototype solar array and three satellites. Coats' second flight was also his first command, again aboard Discovery on mission STS-29. Only the third mission after the tragic loss of Challenger in 1986, Coats' crew deployed a Tracking and Data Relay Satellite (TDRS) and performed a space station "heat pipe" radiator experiment. After nearly five days and 3,000 photographs taken of the Earth, Coats landed the orbiter in California. Commander Coats flew his third and final Discovery flight, STS-39, in 1991 on an unclassified Department of Defense mission. He and his crew deployed, operated and retrieved the SPAS-II spacecraft and performed research of both natural and induced phenomena in the Earth's atmosphere. Coats left NASA to pursue opportunities in the private aerospace sector, holding management positions at Loral Space Information Systems and Lockheed Martin Space Systems Company, where he most recently was vice president of Advance Space Transportation. In November 2005, Coats was name director of Johnson Space Center.

The sun will rise a little earlier on March 15, as Space Shuttle Atlantis roars into orbit on another construction mission to the International Space Station. A limited number of tickets are now on sale to view the early morning launch of Space Shuttle Atlantis, mission STS-117, from Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex, the closest public viewing site to the launch pad.Admission tickets must be purchased in advance to receive a car placard to enter Kennedy Space Center for NASA's 21^st U.S. mission to the International Space Station. During its 11-day mission, the six-person crew of Atlantis will install a new support truss to the station along with a set of power-generating solar arrays, destined to provide one-fourth of the total power generation for the completed station.
