New name, same game: Daytona Beach rebrands ahead of Orange City opening

Daytona Beach Kennel Club & Poker Room has officially been re-named Daytona Beach Racing & Card Club. The rebranding was planned to coincide with the opening of Orange City Racing & Card Club, a state-of-the-art poker room, simulcasting venue and sports bar, which is expected to open in March.

Fred Guzman, general manager of both locations, spoke to a local newspaper to explain the name change and give a preview of the Orange City venue.

“As far as the games and services, nothing is changing at the Daytona Beach location,” Guzman told the paper. “It will be two different locations but the same great services.”

Similar to Daytona, Orange City will be anchored by a 33-table poker room, featuring cash-action popular games such as Texas Hold’em, Omaha Hi/Lo and Omaha or Seven Card Stud. It will also cater to racing fans who can wager on horse and greyhound races, which will be simulcast from the Daytona track and several other top racing venues around the country. Complementing the gaming amenities will be a full-service sports restaurant and bar.

final-orange-cityHaving a consistent name and brand will not only bolster both locations as leading gaming and entertainment destinations in Central Florida, but it will also provide a strong foundation for the Orange City location to start from in the community. When completed, Orange City Racing & Card Club is expected to create more than 150 new jobs and generate an estimated $6 million in annual economic impact for the region.

“It's going to be a huge impact once you consider the annual salaries as well as taxes,” Guzman said. “It's a shot in the arm for this economy.”

Since its new location opened in 2008, Daytona Beach Racing & Card Club has earned rave reviews from guests while becoming a true poker destination. It’s the only stop in the state of Florida for the internationally-televised Heartland Poker Tour, as well as year-round national, celebrity and charity tournament events.

The location has also earned four consecutive certificate of excellence awards from TripAdvisor for being a top-rated destination for travelers. The world’s largest online travel site annually recognizes travel destinations that deliver a superior customer experience, and Daytona Beach Racing & Card Club was rated among the top-three “Things to do in Daytona Beach” in 2016.
