Delaware North team at Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex seeking hero videos for new attraction

How do you define a hero? That’s what the newest major attraction at Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex, which Delaware North operates for NASA on Florida’s Space Coast, is aiming to explore.

Heroes & Legends featuring the U.S. Astronaut Hall of Fame® has launched a new initiative designed to hero-4448418more fully engage visitors in their experience with the exhibit. Officials are seeking video entries from the public about a hero who has inspired them, with select submissions to be featured alongside NASA’s most famous astronauts and celebrity ambassadors when the attraction opens Nov. 11.

“Ask 15 different people the definition of a hero, and you’ll likely get 15 different answers,” said Therrin Protze, chief operating officer of Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex. “And that’s exactly the point. What we want people to realize is that while we all have hero potential, all heroes share one common trait – they have all somehow made the world a better place through their actions. And that means they could be an astronaut, or a teacher, or a parent.”

Designed to provide the historical background and context for space exploration and the legendary men and women who pioneered our journey into space, Heroes & Legends will use engaging storytelling, cutting-edge technology and interactive elements to introduce visitors to not just the heroes of the NASA space program, but the hero potential in themselves.

Video submissions should answer three questions: Who is your hero? How did they inspire you? And, what makes a hero? Participants can post their completed video on either Twitter, Instagram or Facebook using the hashtag #KSCHero, or simply upload it here.

The deadline for entry is Aug. 29. Click here for more details.
