El Questro Wilderness Park associates and families raise funds for Royal Flying Doctors Service

Through a variety of family-centric activities, Delaware North’s team at El Questro Wilderness Park recently raised more than $7,500 for the Royal Flying Doctors Service, which supports the remote Australian location during medical emergencies.

Associates and their families raised funds for the flying doctors by way of a camp-oven cook off, silent familyfun_aus-8435239auction, car wash, sausage sizzle, baking stand and by shaving their heads – which generated more than $1,300 by itself.

“Over the course of the day, El Questro raised $7,576.25 for the Royal Flying Doctors Service, which is an outstanding effort by all guest and staff!” said Geordie Wiseman, a human resources advisor, who said the event also featured a bounce house and a variety of activities for children.

The Royal Flying Doctors Service is one of the largest and most comprehensive aeromedical organizations in the world, providing extensive primary health care and 24-hour emergency service to people over an area of 7.3 million square kilometers.

Delivered by a dedicated team of professionals – using the latest in aviation, medical and communications technology, and supported by a vast number of volunteers and supporters – the service is vital for those who live, work and travel in rural and remote areas of Australia such as El Questro Wilderness Park. The park, located in east Kimberley, covers 1 million acres of diverse land, including rugged sandstone ranges, broad tidal flats, rainforest, gorges and waterfalls.

Delaware North owns and operates a variety of lodging options in the park, each different in style and budget – including the exclusive, five-star luxury resort at The Homestead; safari-style tented cabins in the natural bushland at Emma Gorge; and The Station, which features family bungalows, opportunities for riverside camping, caravan sites and pre-setup tents.
