Kennedy Space Center – Cape Canaveral – (August 4, 2016)  Spend an evening with the stars at Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex and observe the Perseid meteor shower that will peak on Friday, August 12. After Hours Adventure: Star Party guests will view the meteor shower in the Rocket Garden through the telescopes of local astronomy clubs and organizations and watch a 3D guided tour of the universe by Derek Demeter of the Emil Buehler Planetarium (Seminole State College).
The evening also includes a buffet dinner, evening snacks, related interactive activities provided by the University of Florida Astronomy Outreach team, souvenir meteorite fragments and second-day admission to the visitor complex any day through August 20, 2016, for each attending guest.

Activities include:
  • Comet making: demonstrates what a comet is made of and how it works.
  • Pocket solar system and solar system by volume: a scale of the solar system that fits in your pocket that shows how far apart the planets are spread out and a model of the relative sizes by volume of the planets of our solar system.
  • “Ask an astronomer”
  • Cosmic tunnel: guests crawl through a tunnel that artistically explains the evolution of the universe.
Star Party in the Rocket Garden features Kennedy Space Center Amateur Astronomy Club, Brevard Astronomical Society, Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University Observatories and Central Florida Astronomical Society.
