KENNEDY SPACE CENTER, Fla. (March 28, 2008) -  Summer's just around the corner and tomorrow's astronauts will fuel their dreams of space exploration during Camp Kennedy Space Center (KSC) at Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex. In its eleventh year, Camp KSC takes campers through the history of America's space program from the early days of the Mercury program to today's Space Shuttle launches and the future of returning to the Moon and journeying beyond.

Campers discover the sights, sounds and sensations of a Space Shuttle launch on the new Shuttle Launch Experience. This simulation offers a fun-filled opportunity to experience what only just over 300 Space Shuttle astronauts have ? to get vertical and launch into Earth's orbit. Classroom activities include training on realistic motion-based space simulators and performing a simulated Space Shuttle mission aboard a full-scale replica of an orbiter and simulated Mission Control.  Campers learn the value of teamwork as they make new friends and perform hands-on, minds-on learning activities related to "Building our Future in Space," the theme of Camp KSC.   Former NASA astronauts will be on hand to share the impact the space program has on everyday life.

Specially trained educators lead the five-day program. CampKSC is designed for children grades 2 through 9. Spring Camp KSC will be held April 7 through 11. Weekly summer camps begin June 9 and run through August 15 at the U.S. Astronaut Hall of Fame®

CampKSC runs from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. with early drop-off and late pick-up hours available. Transportation is available during select summer sessions at designated locations in Central and South Brevard County.

Tuition is $295 per child per session with discounts available for multi-child households. Included with the program, campers receive a Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex Annual Pass, lunches and afternoon snacks, Official Camp KSC t-shirt, Camp KSC graduation ceremony and certificate of completion.

Camp KSC is based at the U.S. Astronaut Hall of Fame, located at the intersection of US 1 and SR 405 in Titusville.  or call 321-449-4400. For more information about Camp Kennedy Space Center click here
