Hubble 3D IMAX
® Film Opens March 19
KENNEDY SPACE CENTER, Fla. (March 18, 2010) – The furthest depths of the universe are vividly brought to life through the eyes of the Hubble Space Telescope during Hubble 3D, the newest IMAX 3D film from the award-winning IMAX space team, opening at Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex on Friday, March 19, 2010. The film, narrated by three-time Academy Award® nominee Leonardo DiCaprio, recounts the amazing journey of the most important scientific instrument since Galileo’s original telescope.
 
There is no better place to watch the inspiring story of the Hubble Space Telescope than from Kennedy Space Center – the place where space shuttle Discovery, STS-31, launched in 1990 and deployed the greatest telescope ever built into Earth orbit.
 
Through the power of IMAX 3D, the film will transport audiences to distant galaxies to explore the grandeur and mysteries of our celestial surroundings, and accompany space-walking astronauts as they attempt the most difficult and important tasks in NASA’s history. The film offers an exhilarating and unique look into the Hubble Space Telescope’s legacy and highlights its profound impact on the way we view the universe and ourselves.
 
The IMAX 3D camera flew onboard Space Shuttle Atlantis in May 2009, capturing stunning 3D images of the intricate spacewalks required to service the telescope. The footage, shot by STS-125 astronauts, will put audiences right there alongside the space-walking astronauts. The film will also feature never-before-seen 3D flights through awe-inspiring Hubble imagery, providing a first-person journey to the far reaches of our universe. Hubble 3D is an IMAX and Warner Bros. Pictures production, in cooperation with NASA.
 
Guests can experience powerful Hubble imagery first-hand at the Eye on the Universe: The Hubble Space Telescope exhibit, located right outside the IMAX Theater at Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex. The exhibit celebrates the stunning discoveries of the Hubble Space Telescope, allowing guests to step into the universe and walk the pathway to ancient stars, nebulae and galaxies. The new Hubble 3D IMAX film and the Eye on the Universe: The Hubble Space Telescope exhibit are included with admission to Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex.
