U.S. Astronaut Hall of Fame Induction to Take Place at Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex, Friday, May 19, 2017

Veteran NASA astronauts Michael Foale and Ellen Ochoa will officially be inducted into the United States Astronaut Hall of Fame®

WHAT:                      
Veteran NASA astronauts Michael Foale and Ellen Ochoa will officially be inducted into the United States Astronaut Hall of Fame® in a public ceremony that will take place at Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex in the Space Shuttle Atlantis® attraction. Both inductees served missions on space shuttle Atlantis. They will become two of only 95 individuals to have received this honor. Both have demonstrated outstanding accomplishments in furthering NASA’s mission of exploration and discovery.
Following the ceremony, limited media interviews with both astronauts will be available by request.

Induction attendees will include:

  • Astronauts Michael Foale and Ellen Ochoa
  • Therrin Protze, chief operating officer, Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex
  • Robert Cabana, director, NASA’s Kennedy Space Center and veteran astronaut
  • Hall of Fame Astronaut and Astronaut Scholarship Foundation Chairman, Dan Brandenstein
  • Additionally, more than 20 astronauts are scheduled to be in attendance for the ceremony, including Al Worden, Charlie Duke, Karol “Bo” Bobko, Brian Duffy, Scott Altman, John Blaha, Michael Bloomfield, Charles Bolden, Ken Bowersox, Curtis Brown, Michael Coats, Robert Crippen, Sam Durrance, Robert Gibson, Frederick Gregory, Rhea Seddon, Brewster Shaw, Loren Shriver, Kathryn Thornton, and James Wetherbee.
