There’s nothing quite like exploring the world through the eyes of a 4-year-old. That’s what inspired photographer and father Aaron Sheldon to start Small Steps are Giant Leaps, capturing his son Harrison experiencing the everyday world, dressed in an astronaut suit. That same spirit of exploration is brought to life at the Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex where Harrison was invited to have a special space experience. 

The way heroes are defined in the 21^st Century is a focus of the new Heroes & Legends featuring the U.S. Astronaut Hall of Fame^® attraction, scheduled to open at Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex on November 11, 2016.  In a never-done-before initiative designed to more fully engage the visitor in their experience, the public is being asked to submit a video about a hero that has inspired them. Select video submissions will be featured alongside NASA’s most famous astronauts and celebrity ambassadors.

Therrin Protze, chief operating officer of the Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex, today announced The Boeing Company as the title sponsor of the upcoming attraction Heroes & Legends, featuring the U.S. Astronaut Hall of Fame^®. The news marks the first time in more than 50 years that the visitor complex has entered into an agreement with a corporate sponsor. 

In recognition of  their extraordinary accomplishments in furthering NASA’s mission of exploration and discovery, veteran astronauts Brian Duffy and Scott Parazynski have been selected for induction into the elite United States Astronaut Hall of Fame^®.
