When guests visit the new Space Shuttle AtlantisSM attraction, they will be treated to a sight previously seen only by astronauts in space – Atlantis tilted at a 43.21-degree angle with its payload bay doors open as if it has just undocked from the International Space Station (ISS). What guests may not realize is how rare it is for the payload bay doors to be open when Atlantis is not in space.
